Data Protection

This privacy policy informs you about the nature, scope, and purpose of the processing of personal data within our website. In principle, it is possible to use our website without providing personal data. For reach measurement and optimisation of functions and content, we use a so-called web analysis service (Piwik), which collects anonymised usage data. (For data protection details on this, see Analysis Services).

In the past too, we have taken data protection very seriously and have been transparent about the use of, for example, the analytics service employed. From the outset, we have felt ourselves bound not only by legal requirements but also by the principle of minimal data collection and responsible handling of personal data.

Terminology Used

With regard to the terminology used, such as „processing“ or „controller“, we refer to the definitions in Art. 4 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

„Personal data“ means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person („data subject“); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.

„Processing“ means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data, whether or not by automated means. The term is broad and covers virtually any handling of data.

Analytical services

Our website uses Google Search Console and Google Analytics, which are web analysis services. Google Search Console and Google Analytics use „cookies“, which are text files saved on your computer that enable us to analyse your use of the website. For this purpose, the usage information generated by the cookie (including your IP address, which is shortened) will be transmitted to our server and stored for usage analysis purposes, which enables us to optimise the website. Your IP address will already be anonymised during this process, so that you remain anonymous to us as a user. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website will not be passed on to third parties. You can prevent the use of this anonymised cookie information by configuring your browser software accordingly; however, in this case, you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent.

If you do not agree with the storage and analysis of this anonymised data from your visit, you can object to the storage and use at any time with a mouse click. In this case, an opt-out cookie will be placed in your browser, which means that Google Search Console and Google Analytics will not collect any session data. Warning: If you delete your cookies, this will also delete your opt-out cookie, which may need to be reactivated by you.
