Cuxhaven, 12th December 2022 We are delighted to be members of the ‚Ems-Achse‘ growth region. „We have joined because we have been convinced by the socially exemplary activities of the regional network and want to drive forward the energy transition in the region together with the strong local partners and members,“ explains Daniel Schütte, Head of Wind Project Management at UMaAG.

Companies, municipalities, educational institutions, chambers of commerce, and associations – these diverse partners form the Ems-Achse growth region, founded in 2006. More than 630 members are directly involved, in addition to many other stakeholders in the various competence centres established in key industries: Automotive, energy, IT, plastics, logistics, maritime economy, and metal and mechanical engineering.
Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Hubertus Heil, presented the Ems-Achse with the „Innovative Network 2021“ award at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Berlin. With four digital projects, the network demonstrates how to connect young people with companies in the region, even during the Corona pandemic. Projects such as „Mach mal – das Duell um die Ems-Achse“ (Do it – the Duel for the Ems-Achse), „Digital-Tandem“ (Digital Tandem), „Your Way 2 Business“, and a digital exhibition „55 Stunden Zukunft“ (55 Hours Future) offered young people digital opportunities for job searching.
The Ems-Axis is an association that primarily pursues three goals: networking partners, lobbying for the region, and securing and attracting skilled workers. With innovative measures, the Ems-Axis offers skilled workers and companies a comprehensive range of services. These include, among others, skilled worker service points (Welcome Centres), emergency childcare, nationwide trade fair appearances, and job buses for schoolchildren, students, and returners. The Ems-Axis has received multiple awards for its work – for example, as an „Innovative Network“ and with the „EDR Border Prize“. (www.emsachse.de)
