Esterwegen Wind Farm

Emsland District, Lower Saxony

In October 2020, in Esterwegen, we successfully completed a pioneering repowering project together with our partners: three Enercon E-58 wind turbines (each 1 MW, hub height 70 metres), erected in 2002, were replaced by two modern Enercon E-138 turbines with a hub height of 160 metres and an output of 4.2 MW each. This nearly trebled the wind farm's total output from 3 to 8.4 megawatts.

With an annual production of around 29 million kWh, the wind farm supplies approximately 5,500 households with clean electricity and saves around 16,500 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
